Test Equipment Description

Haefely PEFT8010 Description:

The Haefely PEFT 8010 is the state-of-the-art EFT/Burst Immunity Test System with a built-in coupling/decoupling network for single phase or three-phase mains supply lines and a HV terminal to connect a capacitive coupling clamp IP4B. The spike frequency can be varied from as low as 1Hz to 110kHz. The PEFT 8010 is capable to generate 999 spikes per millisecond or up to 250 spikes per burst. Its performance fully complies with IEC 61000-4-4:2004, IEC 61000-4-4 Amd.1 Ed.2:01/2010 and IEC 61000-4-4 Ed.3: 03/2012. Pre-programmed Standard Test routines and a number of selected User Test routines make the PEFT 8010 an optimum standalone solution for both testing during development and final testing of products and sub-assemblies.

Additional Information:

Electrical fast transients (EFT) are the most popul ar sources of disturbances in modern electronic circuits. EFT/ bursts are caused by the operation of electro-mechanical switc hes, motors or power distribution switchgears.

The PEFT 8010 instrument contains all the features expected from a top quality EFT generator. Unbeaten performa nce paired with a high end assembly guarantee a cost ef fective, long-lasting investment and valuable test results. PEFT 8010 can either be operated by the front panel keys in a stand-alone manner or be controlled by PC via RS2 32 or IEEE 488 as part of a complete EMC test system. Tests can be performed manually or automatically wi th predefined test programs. The front panel layout wi th its large LCD display and the intuitive software are especial ly designed for self-explanatory and safe operation of the inst rument. Up to 36 test setups can be programmed and saved on th e internal non-volatile memory.

Bursts are generated according to the related stand ards IEC 61000-4-4 and EN 61000-4-4. The PEFT 8010 can deliver EFT impulses in different formats including normal, continuous, random and real pulse distribution. For better handling, the PEFT 8010 is equipped with two grounding connections, one at the front panel and o ne at the rear panel. This is very helpful in making connecti ons to the ground plane if the PEFT 8010 is used either horizo ntally or vertically. With the integrated “Transition Function” Unominal, the spike frequency, the burst duration and the bur st period can be varied automatically during a test. Besides this, it is also possible to edit the parameters manually durin g a test. Besides conventional safety features, the PEFT 8010 contains a separate “Line ON/OFF” switch with which the main supply can be disconnected from the equipment under test.
