The A.H. Systems FCC-1 half-wave dipole antenna, also know as the reference dipole antenna, is a simple form of antenna and consists of a matching balun and two horizontal elements. The FCC-1 tuned dipole antenna includes a mounting clamp, tape measure, extension elements and adjustable telescoping elements. Each antenna element is adjusted to a quarter wavelength (half wavelength total) this will create a precise resonating response at the frequency of interest.
The antenna balun is constructed per the W. K. Roberts design as specified in the ANSI C63.5 standard and consists of a folded balun that converts the 70-ohm (at resonance) to 50-ohm impedance. This balun design exhibits a low VSWR, low balun loss and can handle power up to 300 watts.
