Test Equipment Description

The Amplifier Research (AR) FL7218 Laser Powered E-Field Probe 3 MHz - 18 GHz,
is a fast reading and very accurate electric field probe that contains an internal microprocessor to provide linearization. Noise reduction and temperature compensation allow accurate measurements down to 2 V/m without needing a zero adjustment to compensate.

Since this probe is microprocessor based, the linearization technology provides a 54 dB dynamic range. When rotated on its ergonomic angle mount, the probe provides an isotropic response of +1.5 dB to 18 GHz. Communications for this probe utilizes glass fiber-optic cables that can span up to 328 ft or 100 meters long, coupling to the FI7000 interface. X, Y, Z, and isotropic readings can be returned through an AR FI7000 within 20 milliseconds,
This is one of the faster and lower latency signal return probes on the market. This Versital laser powered Probe allows for continuous operation without recharging or battery replacements paired with its smaller form factor gives it the ability to fit in smaller testing enclosures and limited environments.

FL7218 Features:

  • 2 V/m to 1,000 V/m
  • +/- 1.5 dB to 18 GHz Response
  • Laser powered probe relieves your testing duration concerns without the worry of power loss or charging
  • Small form factor and size allow use in smaller confined spaces and testing enclosures, with its reduced size it is less disruptive to the RF field, providing an accuracy of results with the least possible interference.
  • Spherical housing yields a more uniform reception resulting in an improvement in isotropic response
  • Fully integrates with the FM7004 field monitor and can utilize VM7000 virtual monitor software
  • Four levels of unequaled laser safety measures in order to protect the user from possible injuries
  • Multiple interface options: USB, IEEE-488 (GPIB), RS-232 (serial), Fiber-Optic.
  • Automatic Temperature compensation

FL7218 Accessory kit:

  • Model FL7218 Probe with carrying case and Calibration Report from an A2LA-accredited lab
  • Model FI7000 Probe Interface
  • Model FC7010 Fiber Optic Cable set for FL7000 Series probes, 32 ft or 10 meters default length.
  • Model MA7000 Fiber Optic Mating Adapter Set
